The Autumnal Equinox in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia was on Monday, 20 March 2017 at 9:29 pm AEDT. On the two equinoxes every year the Sun shines directly on the Equator and the length of day and night is nearly equal – but not exactly. The Autumnal Equinox marks the moment the Sun crosses the celestial equator – the imaginary line in the sky above the Earth’s equator – from South to North in March (in the Southern Hemisphere). This post is part of the Mosaic Monday meme, and also part of the Monday Mellow Yellows meme, and also part of the Through my Lens meme, and also part of the Seasons meme.
